Second degree black belt Ken Cross was born in Zanesville, Ohio. In 1973 Ken was in the Army stationed near Seoul, Korea. He started taking Hapkido at a school just outside of his compound. After he was discharged in 1975, Ken moved to Annapolis and never expected to hear about Hapkido again.
Ken is an exhibit designer, and he likes to draw, paint, and sculpt in his spare time. His formal training is in architecture and fine arts, but in the late 70's he had a painting business with his brother. Ken got talked into helping one of his clients move. As it turned out, Joe Sheya was helping too. During the move Ken and Joe discovered their common interest in Hapkido.
Ken started studying with Mr. Rim in 1979, but he broke his ankle fairly badly in 1981 and was out of Hapkido for more than six years. Ken has been in and out of Hapkido ever since. He was promoted to black belt in 198?, and second degree black belt in 198?. Ken likes "the physical part of Hapkido of course, but even more profound is the mental progressions that you make in the form."
