Third degree black belt John Gregg was born in Quantico, Virginia. John sells boating parts and accessories in Annapolis. He likes woodworking in his spare time, especially turning bowls.
John first studied a hard style martial art, Goju Karate (later JKA). Later John became interested in Tai Chi, which he has been practicing for more than 14 years. He also studied Aikido and Ki-Aikido for three to four years with his son. John was introduced to Hapkido by Mike Parks. They had worked together in the 70's. One day they ran into each other and started talking about martial arts. Mike was taking Hapkido and suggested John give it try.
John started taking Hapkido in 1988 and was promoted to black belt instructor on 22 October 1995. He teaches the Sunday morning class. "I like the people, the artform ... there's such a combination of energy, sensitivity, all of the components come together... it's the most efficient and the most effective artform that I have studied." John was promoted to third degree black belt on 6 May 2000.
